Why I've decided to blog

I might start off by listing some of the reasons I haven't decided to blog. I've haven't started a blog primarily to be hip, to seem trendy, to spread my fame, or to be able to refer hip, trendy or famous people to my blog. I haven't started a blog to substitute for interacting with people face-to-face. I haven't even primarily started to blog for the sake of the possible benefit people might gain from reading it.
Mainly, I've decided to blog as a tool for growing myself, keeping me thinking and writing and working. I've been influenced heavily by Abraham Piper's post on 6 reasons why pastors should blog (to write, to teach, to recommend, to interact, to develop an eye for what is meaningful, and to be known). Since I see myself as, in fact, a pastor in training (as well as a teacher and scholar in training), I want to use this time, especially this next year, to really train in those things. It's sort of like an outlet that I can use, while I learn and grow, so that I might become, over the long haul, better at writing, teaching, recommending, interacting, and so that I develop an eye for what is meaningful and learn to disclose more so that I don't just preach, but allow myself to be known. In short that is why I've decided to blog, and why I've called my blog The Training of a Teacher-Pastor-Scholar. I've got a lot to learn, and maybe, just maybe, some of my learning will be helpful along the way to others.
